Chris Jericho is apologizing for some recent comments he made at a film festival that many would consider to be racist and homophobic.

Jericho took part in a “Q&A” session at the Sacramento Horror Film Festival a few weeks ago following the screening of his movie, Albino Farm. Jericho referred to the session moderator as “Hadji”, a racial slur used against Middle Easterners. After the host jokingly checked Jericho’s drink for alcohol, the WWE Superstar used a gay slur towards him.

Jericho has since apologized and told TMZ.com, “After seeing the video I realize some inappropriate comments were made and I apologize if I offended anybody. Just know that everyone on stage was having a blast and we all shared a drink and a laugh after! The good news is I got my wish of being posted on TMZ.”

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) is effectively rejecting what they call Chris Jericho’s “insincere and worn” apology for using anti-gay and racist slurs at a recent film festival.

GLAAD president Jarrett Barrios issued the following statement to TMZ.com this afternon:

“Just three months ago Chris Jericho’s boss and WWE Chairman Vince McMahon acknowledged to GLAAD that words matter.

There is no time, context or occasion in which it is acceptable to utter racist and anti-gay slurs. Jericho’s hollow apology ‘if (he) offended anyone’ is a template used by many and is insincere and worn.”

Chris Jericho and The Miz have been going back and forth on Twitter making snide remarks about each other. Yesterday morning, Jericho wrote on (Twitter.com/IAmJericho), “The sad thing is my big fat gut is in better shape than your bulbous doughy body. No wonder the office won’t let u win a match.” On Raw, Miz defeated Primo while Jericho had his suit ripped off by Mark Henry and then lost their match via count-out. After Raw, the Miz wrote on Twitter.com/MiketheMiz, “I won tonight. How’d u do? Must of sucked getting ur 2 dollar TJ Maxx suit torn off then losing.”

– Brian Christopher Lawler, son of Jerry “The King” Lawler, was arrested on Monday for the third time this year. After being picked up for disorderly conduct back in February, Christopher was arrested on June 26th for public intoxication. Part of the plea agreement stemming from the public intoxication arrest was that a judge required him to enter an in-patient treatment center. He was supposed to enroll in a 30-day program by yesterday, but he failed to do so. As a result, police tracked him down in Jackson City, Tennessee and now he’ll spend that 30 days in jail.
